Steam heat recovery for GCC plants

Flash steam, boiler blowdown and hot condensate carry heat that many plants vent or drain. We calculate how much useful heat is available, where it can be used and which recovery options are worth the investment.

How we work on heat recovery

01

Find the sources

From your drawings and operating data we list the heat sources, such as flash steam, blowdown, condensate and other hot streams, with their flows, temperatures and operating hours.

02

Match heat to users

We look for users that can take the recovered heat, such as boiler feedwater, make-up water or process heating, and check that supply and demand happen at the same time.

03

Calculate the options

We estimate recoverable heat, fuel savings and the main equipment needed for each option, with the assumptions stated.

04

Prioritise

You receive the options ranked by savings and investment, ready for a budget discussion or further design.

GCC CONTEXT

Why heat recovery matters in GCC plants

Gas-fired boilers are common across the region, and national energy efficiency targets are putting fuel use under closer review. Heat recovered from flash steam, blowdown and condensate reduces the fuel needed to raise steam, and recovering condensate heat often goes hand in hand with saving desalinated make-up water.

Heat recovery questions

What is flash steam?

When hot condensate at high pressure is released to a lower pressure, part of it turns back into steam. This flash steam carries useful heat and can often be used for low-pressure heating instead of being vented.

Is blowdown heat recovery worth it?

It depends on the blowdown rate, the boiler pressure and whether there is a use for the heat, typically make-up water. We calculate the savings for your conditions before any investment is considered.

Can heat recovery be assessed remotely?

Yes. Heat sources and users are identified from drawings and operating data, and your site team can confirm temperatures and arrangements with photographs and simple readings.

How does heat recovery relate to a steam audit?

An audit shows where the losses are across the whole system. Heat recovery work goes deeper into the sources the audit identifies and turns them into options with calculated savings.
